Integration schemes with fixed time step size for non-smooth dynamical systems with contact and friction
The goal of this project is to investigate numerical time integration techniques for non-smooth mechanical systems with unilateral contacts and impacts. In general, this will include the implementation of common event-capturing time-stepping integration schemes and their application to an engineering mechanics problem of a rigid block rocking on an elastic beam. More precisely, analysis of the convergence, stability and accuracy of the schemes will be studied, followed by the investigation of the implemented schemes ability to predict the dynamic behavior of the studied problem. The latter will be carried out through the validation of numerical results with experimental measurements.
