Research strategy and Open science

The Research Strategy 2021-2025 of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Rijeka is based on an analysis of SWOT, the results achieved at the European, national, and institutional levels, the goals defined within the visions of the organizational departments and the goals defined for the same period at the faculty level.

The strategic goals of the Faculty are based on the monitoring of global research trends and the further development of the research priorities of the institution, the research work in the laboratories, the linking of the defined goals of faculty departments and the pursuit of multidisciplinary research, the strengthening of links with the business community, the application of new research projects and publishing that involves scientists from different departments and University entities, the strengthening of visibility, internationalization and intensive mobility of researchers. The synergy of these goals will be reflected in the recognition of the Faculty in terms of research results, in the sustainability of research work, in the development of new technologies and innovations in civil engineering, in the strengthening of the organizational structure, and in the improvement of the quality and development of doctoral study programme. The Faculty will continue to encourage and reward achievements in research and continuously participate in the popularization of science and the construction industry.

The strategic policy is defined by ten objectives within which the activities and methods to achieve them are described.

The Faculty of Civil Engineering supports the principles and goals of the Croatian Declaration on Open Access and through the Open Access Policy aims to bring the dissemination of the Faculty’s scientific, professional and pedagogical content in line with the basic principles of the Declaration. By implementing the adopted policy, the Faculty also supports the Open Science Policy of the University of Rijeka, through which the advancement of science and the dissemination of knowledge for the benefit of society is supported.
