The Croatian Institute of Civil Engineering was founded in 1949 and the company has had a concentration of knowledge for more than 70 years, which makes it a leading design, consulting and scientific institution engaged in research and development in construction.

IGH laboratories are accredited for more than 500 test methods. The equipment and professional potential are at the level of leading European laboratories. Croatia’s accession to the European Union was welcomed by the Institute. Every certificate from IGH laboratories is valid anywhere in Europe.

There is almost no building, road, tunnel or bridge in Croatia in which IGH has not participated through some of its services such as design or supervision, quality control of construction, studies or provided expert opinions and expertise. The Rijeka Regional Center was established in 1962 as a branch of IGH in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar, Istria and Lika regions. Rijeka was chosen as the seat due to the economic needs of the IGH, but also due to the fact that it had already become a center of transport links in the region. From then until today, IGH Regional Center Rijeka participates in a respectable number of the most important projects in this area. Today, we are talking about projects related to clients such as: Croatian Roads, Port of Rijeka, Croatian Motorways, HŽ Infrastruktura, KBC Rijeka, JTH Costabella and many others.

Geotech Ltd. is a company specializing in design, supervision and consulting in geotechnical engineering – a branch of construction that deals with solving soil problems.

The company’s activities are: geotechnical research and testing, slope protection and landslide protection, securing excavations and construction pits, foundation and improvement of foundation soil, supporting structures, landslide remediation.

We have been operating for 12 years and our company has 14 employees, and we continuously invest in growth and development. MareCon Ltd. was founded in 1996 in Rijeka with the aim of basic activities in port and coastal engineering. In the past decades, the company’s engineers have participated in the construction of maritime structures along the entire Croatian Adriatic coast.

They are designed by an authorized reviser and performed by auditing projects, many new ports have been built, but also additions, reconstructions or rehabilitation of existing ones (ferry, communal, fishing, nautical tourism – marinas), coastal walls, anchorages, beaches and the like. As part of the design of the port, maritime studies and geotechnical studies were made. Consulting and supervision were also performed over the construction of other designers. Through its activities, the company has acquired a large number of professional associates with whom it fully covers all segments of the design of maritime buildings and performing professional supervision over their construction.

Vectrino Ltd. is a company engaged in the inspection and analysis of objects from the air and under the sea with the aim of collecting data used for the purpose of asset management.

It is an engineering company in which civil and mechanical engineers, together with economists, develop specific solutions for the purpose of data collection, validation and analysis. The equipment used to record the situation in the field are unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and automatic guided divers (ROVs). Inspection of underwater objects with high positioning accuracy, recording and inspection of objects or parts of objects (roofs, damage to facades, etc., thermal imaging, making realistic underwater 3D models, are just some of the company’s jobs. In 2017 the company won the Drone Hero Europe Award in Brussels for the best startup project.

I.T.T. Ltd. and Stability Ltd. are sister companies from Rijeka active since 1992. They specialize in the design of all types of building structures: reinforced concrete, steel, composite and wooden structures.

They have a number of complex projects behind them in various fields: industrial plants and industrial facilities, residential and commercial buildings, sports halls, hotels, shopping malls, religious facilities, maritime buildings and more. They use modern tools and software solutions following new knowledge and technologies in construction. They have two authorized auditors for the control of structural projects in the field of concrete and masonry structures and 7 certified civil engineers. RI ISA Ltd. Rijeka was founded in 1992 and is a member of the international group Permasteelis. We design building envelopes for the needs of the group and this includes suspended facades, glass walls and skylights, as well as lighter steel structures within the envelopes.

Our company employs 20 workers, mostly educated at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Rijeka, of which 18 in the field of drafting documentation and engineering designs. PRO STUDIO Ltd. company is specialized in the design of building structures and professional supervision and was founded in 2014 by Petar Topić.

We monitor projects from idea to realization: from consultations with the architect to define the constructive system, through the development of major and detailed projects, defining the execution of details, to supervising the execution of the same. We believe that favorable technical solutions can be found in every segment of the project with an engaged approach.

In our projects we use all construction materials: reinforced concrete, steel and wood, and their combinations in the form of combined steel-concrete and wood-concrete structures. Expert knowledge was applied in the development of modular semi-prefabricated buildings. We are constantly upgrading the acquired knowledge by participating in professional gatherings and trainings, as well as specialized fairs. The construction company GP Krk was founded in 1956 as a small but very nimble craft company, which, thanks to great responsibility and even modesty, after more than six decades of development was created into a construction company that is ready to take on even the most responsible construction jobs with all its competences. The slogan of the company “Man, hands, work” best describes the life path of builders from the Krk Island.

On March 24, 1956, the famous basic decision number 2241/56 established the Progres Crafts Company, the forerunner of one of today’s largest construction companies in Croatia – GP Krk. Progres is also the first form of organized construction on the island of Krk, the nucleus that preserved the traditional construction skills of the people of Krk. Due to the need for the construction of communal infrastructure, the Administration for Roads and Ports was founded in 1963. On New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1979, the companies Progres and Putovi i luke joined the Krk Construction Work Organization with two branches – construction and civil engineering. In 1980, a key moment occurred: GRO Krk was formed with two OOURs that retained their core activities, and on May 5, 1993, after privatization, GRO Krk became a joint-stock company with 223 shareholders, among them employees of the company.

In the case of GP Krk, privatization meant growth in every sense: material, technical and, of course, human. In the early nineties, GP Krk “crosses the bridge”, comes to the mainland and begins to expand. The development of GP Krka is based on a large dispersion of jobs, first in Rijeka, then within the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, to quickly become the most propulsive construction company in the neighboring counties – Istria and Lika-Senj. The material-technological base is expanding and strengthening, which also gives strong development impulses. Construction and production Krk, GP KRK, in 2001 and 2002 founded the company GP Rijeka based in Rijeka by taking over smaller companies and their workers. The main activity of StudioARS Ltd. from Matulje is the application of information technology in construction. The company’s biggest advantage is the development of its own applications. The company has been developing the Urbano program package in the field of infrastructure for almost 30 years, primarily through the design of water supply and sewage systems, gas pipelines and other pipe infrastructures. In doing so, the company develops specialized functions that cover all needs in designing and creating documentation, providing flexibility in work, facilitating project processes, shortening design time and opening up new possibilities.

The Urbano program package combines the standard engineering approach, more precisely work through the situation and longitudinal profiles with modern requirements of using digital terrain models and displaying elements in 3D, exports to various BIM formats and imports of data on existing infrastructures from GIS databases. Urbano offers a wide range of tools for searching, filtering, comparing, sorting and graphically displaying data. It provides the use of advanced tools such as cross-sectional analysis with existing infrastructures, cross-sectional analysis with parcels or functional network analysis. This increases the design quality at every step.

Hydra and Canalis are Urbano modules for the calculation of water and sewage systems, which, together with other functions, make Urbano an indispensable design tool. The Hydra module enables setting water needs, setting functional elements of the network (water sources, reservoirs, pumps, valves, etc.), hydraulic calculation of the water supply system, and optimization of pipe diameters using genetic algorithms according to set parameters. The Canalis module enables the assignment of catchment areas and various methods for the calculation of precipitation and waste flow, as well as the calculation and dimensioning of gravity and pressure pipelines.

The company’s activity is mainly in the domain of geological, hydrogeological and hydrological research of waters in the karst part of Croatia. In addition, it deals with the development of projects in the fields of construction and mining, as well as ore extraction.

The company owns equipment for carrying out hydrometric measurements, execution of exploratory boreholes and wells, and is certified for carrying out hydrogeological research. It continuously invests in the company’s equipment and personnel development, and it cultivates an interdisciplinary approach to the implementation of work and cooperates with a large number of scientific and professional institutions and companies. It deals with water monitoring, as well as surface and underground water protection.

In the domain of hydrogeological, hydrological and geotechnical research, the company GEO-5 d.o.o. has realized or is in progress a large number of projects for clients such as Hrvatske vode, HEP, water supply companies, Croatian roads, national and nature parks, local self-government units, private institutions as well as many others. It deals with analyzes of the appearance of water, elements of its protection, modeling of the impact of climate change on water resources, as well as the development of hydrotechnical solutions for water management. Rijekaprojekt Ltd. is a company with 65 years of experience in designing and supervising the construction of complex infrastructure buildings, primarily road and maritime. The basic activities of the company are: design, consulting, preparation of environmental impact studies and studies on environmental protection, preparation of feasibility studies for large infrastructure projects, preparation of professional studies and expertise, conducting administrative procedures and obtaining the necessary permits for construction, nostrification and revision of projects, construction supervision and the like.

In 1947, the “Central Planning Bureau” was founded, where the focus was on reconstruction and restoration projects of port facilities, industrial facilities and roads destroyed during the war. Not long after, in 1953, the project company “Rijeka-projekt” was founded by separating a part of the former “Central Design Bureau”. At that time, a large number of projects were realized in the country and abroad. The Rijeka project at that time consisted of several departments: architecture, civil engineering, plumbing, design, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and geological and geotechnical investigation.

In 1990, the company was privatized, the civil engineering department became an independent company “Rijekaprojekt – niskogradnja” d.o.o. Professional staff with extensive experience in designing civil engineering buildings has been retained, and the company is specialized in creating project documentation for civil engineering facilities. Ten years later, more precisely in 2001, Rijekaprojekt – niskogradnja d.o.o. changes name to Rijekaprojekt d.o.o. The company operates successfully, a large number of demanding projects and studies are made, especially in the area of capital state infrastructure such as highways, expressways, ports and port terminals. In 2009, the Quality Management System (QMS) was established and the ISO 9001:2008 certificate was obtained, and just two years later (2011), the company logo was redesigned.

Some of the most significant projects in the period from 1947 to 1990 were: Shipyard 3. Maj (Rijeka), Shipyard V.
