Conditions for enrollment in the study
The right to apply for admission to the undergraduate programme is granted to a candidate who has a baccalaureate degree or an equivalent professional qualification of at least four years’ duration, or in accordance with the terms of the Special Regulations of the Faculty.
Selection of candidates for admission to the undergraduate programme is based on scholastic performance (grade point average of all four grades and the compulsory part of the state matriculation examination) and the results of the compulsory (mathematics) and optional (physics or chemistry or computer science) parts of the state matriculation examination. The optional part of the state maturity examination is not obligatory, but by passing the optional part, the candidate receives additional points.

Description of the title / competencies acquired by the student upon graduation
Upon completion of the university undergraduate studies, the student acquires the basic competencies to participate in the design and dimensioning of buildings, as well as basic knowledge that will enable him/her to pursue graduate studies and later postgraduate studies in civil engineering and related fields, as well as various lifelong learning programmes.
During their studies, the student develops the ability to inform and communicate to interested professionals and the public about problems and solutions related to the construction industry. He/she is able to evaluate, on the basis of analysis, certain issues related to construction both from the point of view of the profession and from the point of view of broader social benefits, such as environmental protection.
He is qualified to perform structural calculations in concrete, wood, and metal and to participate in the planning and design of hydrotechnical and transportation facilities and buildings. He is trained to participate in the planning and dimensioning of simpler buildings or parts of complex buildings, the organisation of construction work and the supervision of construction of simpler civil engineering and building structures.
The knowledge and competences acquired by the student upon completion of university undergraduate studies are sufficient to pursue the same or similar courses of study at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Rijeka and at other faculties of civil engineering in the Republic of Croatia. The acquired basic knowledge enables the student to graduate from diploma programmes of other technical programmes. The expected duration of the university undergraduate study in civil engineering is three academic years, and upon completion of the studies the student acquires at least 180 ECTS credits.
